Beth.
I really enjoyed photographing Beth because I loved just waiting for an interesting moment. I feel that there is a theme on each row of this series, from fed up to excited, and I feel it really works as a whole, especially how the images are all looking towards the center.
Being photographed.
I found being photographed quite nerve-wracking as I hated having my photograph taken. Once I got into it I felt more comfortable. This made for more expressive photographs, and although I dislike nearly every photograph individually they work together as a series.

Paul Harries.
Brotherhood.
Charlie Simpson.
Paul Harries is a well known photographer in the music industry, who is great at working with bands and solo artists to capture the mood and personality of his clients. In the top photo, he captures the immense bond between the band members who had been making music for over a decade before the tragic death of one of them. He has managed to capture this strong bond in just a snapshot. With the other photo i love the sincerity and simplicity of the shot, with the smoke breaking up the image.
New York - Vasily Konstantin.
Most of Vasily Konstantin's photographs are of dark images, such as images of people covered in clin film, organs with nails sticking out and body bags dumped in fields. His use of black and white is beautiful and all of his photograph's of urban landscapes look almost worn. I really like his scenes of New York, like the ones above. He takes photo's of things of quite ordinary things and adds and erie darkness into it.
Old vs New.
What interests me about Chesterfield is the combination of old and new architecture, from the Tudor style buildings to the more modern ones on Vicar Lane. The classics still reside in the town, such as the bright red familiarity of Smith's Creamland ice cream van, to the black boot that nags above the front door of Clark's show shop, which seems to have been there for as long as I can remember. The element of the people add direction to the photographs, and show the ever-changing mood of the town.
Town Centre - Chesterfield.
Light switch.
I really liked the effect that a colour changing light gave to these images, the subject looks different in each different colour and i believe it shows how colours can simbolise different moods. The composition of the photographs make them more interesting and abstract.

College.
The colours in this photo stand out boldly from one another, creating an interesting element. Also, the layered effect that is produced by the compostition and the banister make the photograph more interesting.
Chesterfield College.
I like that this photograph contains images, and that the subject is an odd book which makes you really look at the photo. The black and white comic style create a great contrast.
Chesterfield College.
I like the simplicity in this one, and also the colours against one another - the red, the blue and the yellow-browns.
Chesterfield College.
This one is interesting as it's an odd view point. There's a lot going on in the photograph and it's almost chaotic. I like the different directions to it and also that you keep finding different things to focuss on.

Glowing.
This is one of my favourite photographs. It's a simple composition, but the 3 primary colours of the glowing balls stand out immensely against the dark background and i love this harsh contrast. However, the hand holding the 3 adds a subtle softness to the picture.
Storrs Road - Chesterfield.
I like how the dark angled building fades into the sun-reflecting lake of central park.
Central Park - New York.
The free flowing and natural form of this American flag contrasts greatly with the angular, ornate building. Also, the colours of the flag stand out boldly against the building and the sky.
5th Avenue - New York.
The bright yellow of these classic taxi's, one of the main symbols of New York, protrudes boldly from the rest of the scene, i love how they are driving away into the distance.
5th Avenue - New York.
Concrete Jungle.
With each of these photos, what interests me is the combination of nature with man made objects, aka the skyscrapers. The top photo is extremely dense with contrasted buildings whereas in the bottom photo the building reflects the sky, giving the impression that the two blend into one.
Central Park - New York.
Thistle.
The thistle in the foreground is really sharp and in focus compared to the leaves in the background.
Holymoorside - Chesterfield.
The colours in this one add a lot to the image, they change and become more bold from left to right. I really like the geometric element to this photograph.
V and A - London.
This is a very interesting photo as each wheel is an exact repetition of the other, the only slight difference comes with the placement of the wheel spokes.

Winter Wonderland.
This winter scene shows a lot of contrast, from the pure white snow to the brown of the tree trunks. I like how the river runs through the middle of the image, showing the reflection of the trees, and then disappears into the distance.
